Service Description

Cannock Chase Canter Club was born out of an idea during lockdown. It began as a series of online challenges for junior horse owners, with certificates and rosettes awarded upon completion. Since then, Cannock Chase Canter Club has developed to now include stable management courses for equine enthusiasts of all ages and levels of experience. For equestrians under 16 years, we offer one-off "Own a Pony" sessions, mostly suitable for birthday parties or taster days for non-horse owners. Juniors wishing to gain a deeper knowledge and experience of horse ownership can sign up to our 6 week Canter Club Course. This consists of 6 x two-hour practical and theory based training sessions covering a wide range of horse and pony care. Then, for children aged 11 years and under, we have the British Horse Society Pony Stars scheme. A fantastic awards-based and approved incentive giving young equestrians a chance to join other like-minded children as they work through a structured and nationally recognised set of challenges. For adults, I also offer a structured stable management course. This is based around the outcomes of the BHS Stage 1 Care exam and is suitable for beginner horse owners and those wishing to solidify their knowledge. One-off stable management sessions can also be booked as a Personal Training session for horse owners requiring specific support or training with any aspect of horse care, for example plaiting and turnout, tack fitting etc.
